Cell Phones: There Auto Be a Law

Re “Drivers May Dial Out, They Just Can’t Talk,” June 26: Well, at last. Some politicians have opened their ears to the concerns of their constituency. Too bad it’s not here in California. A law banning the use of cell phones while driving has been passed in New York. It’s about time that people came to terms with the problem that yakking on the phone while driving can be hazardous. It’s already bad enough to listen to these same gabbers off the road in public places.

I know there’s a right brain and a left brain, but the people with no brains are usually the ones driving while on the wireless pacifiers. They’re the ones who brake for no apparent reason, weave into another driver’s lane, run stoplights, are generally a nuisance on the road and even have killed people while dialing. Their pathetic excuses why cell phone usage shouldn’t be regulated hopefully will fall on deaf ears throughout the rest of the country. It’s time to teach the no-brainers a lesson.
