Myanmar opposition leader Aung San Suu Kyi’s party reopened a branch office outside Yangon, the capital, as the military junta freed nine more party members in its latest concession to the pro-democracy party.

About 30 members of the National League for Democracy attended a ceremony to fix a signboard on the rundown hut that will serve as the party office in Taikkyi.

It is the first party office allowed to be reopened since a junta crackdown in 1998 closed many of the 40 branches.
