Smoke Reports Spur Emergency Landing
A Southwest Airlines jet headed to San Antonio returned to Sky Harbor International Airport here and made an emergency landing Friday night after smoke was reported in the cabin, authorities said.
Airport spokeswoman Suzanne Luber said 70 passengers and crew members were aboard Flight 838, and all of them used an emergency chute to get off the plane.
One female passenger suffered an asthma attack, but no other injuries were reported, Luber said.
The spokeswoman said it was not immediately known what caused the smoke. Firefighters said that they found no active fire and that they were checking the air-conditioning.
The 737 turned back moments after leaving Sky Harbor, Luber said.
