Northwest Airlines Union OKs Strike
From Times Wire Reports
Northwest Airlines’ mechanics, cleaners and custodians voted overwhelmingly to authorize a strike against the airline, union leaders said in Bloomington.
Representatives of Northwest and the Airline Mechanics Fraternal Assn. will meet Wednesday with the National Mediation Board in Washington.
“The strike vote by AMFA was not unexpected,” said Robert Brodin, a Northwest official. “We want to assure our customers that, regardless of the vote, Northwest Airlines will continue to fly a full schedule.”
