San Fernando, Calabasas Voters to Elect City Council Members

San Fernando and Calabasas voters go to the polls today to elect new council members.

In Calabasas seven candidates, including two incumbents, are running for three seats on the five-member council.

The incumbents are James Bozajian, a Los Angeles County deputy district attorney, and Lesley Devine, a freelance environmental consultant.

The other candidates are Leslie Abraham-Wolf, a former medical communications executive; Karmen Brower, a writer of historical fiction; Marcus Allen Frishman, a state Board of Equalization member; Michael Harrison, a real estate attorney; and Matthew Hooper, vice president of Youth Radio Network.

In San Fernando four candidates--two incumbents and two newcomers--are running for two seats.

Jose Hernandez, who has twice served as mayor, is seeking a third term and current Mayor Silverio Robledo is seeking a second term on the five-member council.

Hernandez is a longtime Cal State Northridge Chicano Studies professor. Robledo is an engineer and financial consultant.

The other candidates are Maria Elena Tostado, an administrator with the Los Angeles Unified School District, and Maribel De La Torre, an independent mortgage broker who is the sister of Councilwoman Cindy Montanez.
