Bloomberg News

Hewlett-Packard Co. said it will team with Internet software maker RealNetworks Inc. to build consumer electronic devices to play music and video from the Web. Terms weren’t disclosed and the two companies aren’t saying what types of products they are working on, a RealNetworks spokeswoman said. The devices will let users download, personalize and play music and video from the Internet. The products, as well as some entertainment services, will be introduced later this year. The two companies are trying to offer devices that can be used at home in the same way as a stereo system or television screen. Shares of Palo Alto-based Hewlett-Packard rose $1.77 to $32.15 on the NYSE. Seattle-based RealNetworks rose 63 cents to $8.13.
