Hawaii Landmark to Close for Repairs

Starting Monday, Diamond Head State Monument on Oahu in Hawaii will be closed Mondays through Thursdays for more than $300,000 worth of maintenance work and improvements that will include new stairs and a new railing around the lookout. It will remain open 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. Fridays through Sundays.
The monument, which overlooks the coast and is visited by more than 1 million people per year, is expected to resume its regular schedule April 13.
