Segerstrom Foundation Receives Crystal Award

The Pacific Symphony Crystal Award, which honors $1-million donors, was presented Wednesday to the newly-created Hal and Jeanette Segerstrom Family Foundation, which gave $1.3-million to the symphony.

In accepting the award from Symphony Chairman Douglas Freeman, Arts Philanthropist Jeanette Segerstrom, 72, said, “Nothing gives me more pleasure than being here with the Pacific Symphony because way back I played cello and in several orchestras, and those were the most delightful years of my life. . . .

“I can never hear or see a cello without just getting dewy-eyed and remembering. That’s what I’ve done a lot of these last few days, remembering. And all of those memories are treasures . . . None of them would have been possible if I hadn’t played in an orchestra . . . So thank you again. This is just lovely.”
