Ex-Lawmaker Links Drug to Debt Run-Up
A day after he was indicted on federal fraud charges, former Rep. Edward Mezvinsky (D-Iowa) filed a lawsuit in Philadelphia contending that a malaria drug caused him to develop mental problems and run up millions of dollars in debt.
Mezvinsky, 64, and his wife, former Rep. Marjorie Margolies-Mezvinsky (D-Pa.), are suing pharmaceutical giant Roche Holding AG, Presbyterian Medical Center in Philadelphia, Babis Pharmacy and Mezvinsky’s physician, Bradley W. Fenton.
They are seeking $50,000 in damages from each of the defendants.
