Northern Ireland Education Minister Martin McGuinness, responding to an official inquiry, gave written testimony in which he is believed to have revealed his role as a senior figure in the Irish Republican Army.

McGuinness, speaking after submitting his version of what happened on “Bloody Sunday”--Jan. 30, 1972--said British troops who killed 13 Catholic protesters that day “got away with murder.”

McGuinness’ statement came 24 hours after a source said McGuinness was set to admit he had been the IRA’s second-in-command that day.
