Micron Sells PC Unit
Bloomberg News
Micron Electronics Inc. will sell its personal computer business to Los Angeles-based Gores Technology Group, shedding a money-losing division, as the company focuses on hosting Web sites. Closely held Gores will assume the unit’s assets and liabilities and receive $70 million in cash. Micron will have no additional obligation to fund the business. Micron also said it would change its name to Interland and move its headquarters to Atlanta from Nampa, Idaho. Gores will leave management in place at MicronPC, which has more than 1,000 employees and will stay in Idaho. Micron shares were unchanged at $1.91 on Nasdaq.
