First American Corp.

The Santa Ana provider of business information and related products and services reported first-quarter net income of $27 million, or 39 cents a share, which included a $14.2-million pretax gain on the sale of the Contour Software Inc. subsidiary and a $3.6-million charge. Net income for the first quarter last year totaled $1 million, or 2 cents a share. Revenue rose 21% to $781 million.
