Comdisco to Slash 10% of North American Staff
Comdisco Inc. said it will eliminate 250 jobs, or 10% of its North American work force, to save about $20 million in annual labor costs. About half of the reductions will be at Comdisco’s Rosemont, Ill., headquarters.
The computer services and equipment leasing company said it will take a related charge of $6 million to $8 million in the third quarter as a result of the move.
Last week, Comdisco reported an unexpected loss for the second quarter and said fiscal 2001 earnings would be less than analysts expected. The company last month hired investment bank Goldman, Sachs & Co. and consultant McKinsey & Co. to advise on options.
Comdisco shares fell 26 cents to close at $2.45 on the NYSE.
