Favorable Weather Aids Effort to Battle Wildfires
From Times Wire Reports
Aided by favorable weather conditions, firefighters gained the upper hand on the state’s first major wildfires of the season.
A 790-acre fire in the hills near Gardnerville was 70% contained, and firefighters hoped to fully contain it this morning.
A 200-acre blaze on public land east of Fallon was extinguished.
Lightning touched off both blazes. Although the fire near Gardnerville burned within a mile of several homes, neither blaze caused any major damage or injuries.
