Gary Wissner, 37, production designer for such popular motion pictures as “I Know What You Did Last Summer” and “8MM,” died May 6 in Los Angeles of Hodgkin’s disease.

Particularly known for sketching the look of dark thrillers and horror and action films, Wissner described his work as crafting a “visual script.”

For the 1999 film “8MM,” set in the pornography underground of Los Angeles and New York, Wissner assigned a blue and gray color scheme to the “normal” world, then moved into hotter reds and yellows for the porno sites.
