Initiatives: Sacred Trust

Share

Re “No to Initiatives and Special Interests,” letter, May 20: I believe the initiative process is a sacred trust that has been passed down to us. What one person deems an insignificant ballot initiative is another person’s life. Everybody should read and vote his or her conscience on every issue, whether the signature gatherers are paid or not (editorial, May 15).

If everybody voted no on all the ballot initiatives, there would be no bonds for schools or for veterans to purchase homes. These issues are insignificant to me, as I am not a veteran nor do I have children, but I read them and I vote yes because it will help somebody, and that is what we are all here for, to help one another.
