SUVs Feed Artificial Sense of Superiority

Share

The quote regarding Cadillac’s and Lincoln’s new monster SUVs, “These may be silly vehicles to most of us, but, by golly, they are image cars” [“Cadillac, Lincoln Ready to Roll With ‘Luxe Trucks,’ ” May 15] is certainly true.

The image is one of an insecure, superficial person who wants to buy approval from equally infantile friends and acquaintances.

Never mind that they suck gas like it is going out of style and are unwieldy to drive and park. Nothing beats that sense of being above the crowd when inching down the freeway, an artificial sense of superiority that these owners crave because the genuine article is out of their reach.
