Twister Tears Roof Off Retirement Complex
A tornado ripped the roof off a retirement complex in Fort Wayne, forcing the evacuation of at least 45 people.
Only minor injuries were reported, police said. A temporary shelter was being set up for those who were evacuated.
The tornado blew the roof off a store and toppled shoppers’ cars parked outside when it touched down, authorities said. No one was inside any of the vehicles.
Several fires and gas leaks were reported in the city, according to police. Touchdowns were also reported southwest and northeast of Fort Wayne.
