IRA Weapons Unused, Monitor Team Says

From Times Wire Reports

International monitors said they had carried out their third inspection of secret IRA weapons dumps in the last 12 months as part of Northern Ireland’s faltering peace process.

The monitors said in a report submitted to the British government that the dumps’ contents had not been used since the previous inspection and that the Irish Republican Army had “fully honored their commitments.”

But the inspection did little to ease fears that the British province’s joint Catholic-Protestant government could unravel over unresolved demands for full IRA disarmament.
