Pleasures of Pittsburgh

Thank you for the wonderful article, including great pictures, of Pittsburgh (“Celebrating a Spirit of Steel,” Oct. 14). Writer Jerry Haines captured the colorful landscape and composition of the city.
I feel a special place in my heart for Pittsburgh, as I graduated from nursing school there in 1957, and my mother was a 1930s graduate of the University of Pittsburgh. I would like to make two additions: The Sen. John Heinz Pittsburgh Regional History Center is worth seeing, and there is a T-shirt with Pittsburgh vocabulary on it that is a hoot. As I recall, one of the other popular expressions was “younes,” meaning “you people.”
