Goodrich Awarded Fighter Parts Contract

Bloomberg News

Goodrich Corp. won $70 million in contracts for parts, such as landing gear, for Lockheed Martin Corp.’s Joint Strike Fighter program and said the new class of fighter jet could bring in as much as $5 billion.

The work includes fuel gauges for the aircraft, versions of which will be built for the Air Force, Navy and Marine Corps and for Britain’s military. The $5-billion estimate excludes sales to foreign militaries, the company said.

“This is a drop in the bucket,” said Steven Roorda, an analyst with American Express Financial Advisors. “The commercial aerospace business is more important” for Goodrich and will continue to be so, he added. Shares of Charlotte, N.C.-based Goodrich rose 88 cents to $23.05.
