In Sharon’s World, Arafat Equals Bin Laden

Share

Re “Sharon’s Shameful Analogy,” Commentary, Nov. 4: Let me ask you this: If it smells like a duck, walks like a duck, looks like a duck and acts like a duck, wouldn’t you think that it might be a duck?

Yasser Arafat is a coldblooded murderer and a noted liar who can never be trusted; Israel’s Prime Minister Ariel Sharon was right on the mark when he said that Osama bin Laden and Arafat are twins. They are!

Arafat is not America’s friend, nor should we want him as our friend. He talks out of one side of his mouth to our liberal American media and the other side of his mouth to the Palestinian press.

If Arafat is not a Bin Laden, even though his policemen are shooting and killing innocent civilians, then he is at least a Taliban, since he harbors and protects a host of other terrorist organizations such as Hamas, Islamic Jihad and the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine, among others.

Sharon wants the world to understand that the analogy he made is exact, there are no “kosher” terrorists; they are all just terrorists. Bin Laden and Arafat are cut from the same mold. The difference is that Arafat, by far, is more adept at fooling people like Hillel Schencker who prefer to wear blinkers than the less-diplomatic and grandiose Bin Laden. Both have a dangerous agenda for their respective enemies. Arafat’s is Israel; Bin Laden’s is anyone not a Muslim.

Utopia would be wonderful if Arafat really meant anything he tells his foreign listeners. But why should we not believe what he tells his own people, that there is no room for an Israel in the Middle East?
