The jurors who convicted Socorro Caro of first-degree murder will begin hearing evidence Nov. 27 in the penalty phase of her trial, a judge decided Wednesday.
At the end of the hearing, which will last about two weeks, the jury is to recommend either life in prison without parole or the death penalty for Caro.
Superior Court Judge Donald D. Coleman delayed the penalty phase for nearly three weeks after conferring with jurors and attorneys for both sides. Several jurors said they would be unavailable Thanksgiving week because of commitments made before the trial began.
After a nine-week trial, the Santa Rosa Valley woman was found guilty Monday in the shooting deaths of three of her sons. The next day, she dropped her plea of not guilty by reason of insanity.
