Two German tourists who enrolled in a southern Nevada flight school have been sent home amid a crackdown on visa violations after the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks.

The U.S. Immigration and Naturalization Service returned Alexandros Milanowski, 20, and Mehmet Wabamci, 26, to Germany after each began taking flying lessons without the proper passport endorsement, the flight school’s owner and INS officials said.

Milanowski and Wabamci were not deported and were not charged with a crime, said Karen Dorman, officer in charge at the INS office in Las Vegas.

“It’s a visa issue,” Dorman said. “That, in and of itself, is not a crime.”
