Hooray for Hollywood & Highland Project

Share

Re “There’s a New Buzz on Hollywood Blvd.,” Nov. 8: I decided to use the opening of the Hollywood & Highland project to treat my mother to a night out on the town. I had been to the morning grand opening and was somewhat underwhelmed by the experience. I returned the same evening, mother in hand, doubting I’d find the same highbrow multitudes of the morning opening ceremonies.

To my surprise I found an interesting mix of social and economic cultures harmoniously bustling about in a crisscross of shops and restaurants. It was visually very pleasing, relaxing on a central, first-floor bench. We then took the Metro train to the Vine station to see “The Lion King” at the Pantages Theatre. Together with our dinner at Pig ‘n’ Whistle, I’d say Hollywood has finally delivered the glitz and glamour that one might expect to find there.

I can’t wait to see what other spinoffs will do to the rest of the boulevard.

I went to the new Hollywood & Highland shopping center with a great desire to love it, since I live nearby in the Hollywood Hills. It was an exciting place full of enthusiastic people, fascinating architecture and views of downtown Hollywood and our famous sign. The shops and restaurants, however, were the same ones found elsewhere, which would have been fine if I hadn’t been slapped with a $10 parking fee. The visit included a long wait at the woefully inadequate restroom facilities.

Next time I’ll go to the Glendale or Pasadena malls and save a few bucks.
