‘Work-at-Home’ Scheme Alleged in Lawsuit
The district attorney’s office has accused a Camarillo man of bilking local residents by selling worthless “work-at-home” schemes.
Jonathan Randall Severn, 30, faces a civil lawsuit alleging fraudulent business practices, authorities said.
Prosecutors said they have received more than 100 complaints about the “marketing and performance” practices of Severn’s company, run under the name Roma Computer Solutions and Biztools.tv, both based in Oxnard.
The company sold packages that included a computer and Web site design software that allegedly allowed people to run a business from home. Some of the packages cost up to $6,000, prosecutors said. But the packages did not work as promoted, authorities said.
