A man opened fire in a mostly empty restaurant, killing his wife and the restaurant owner and critically injuring a cashier. He then turned the gun on himself and committed suicide.

Thomas Schutz, 57, followed his wife, Marilyn, from their home Sunday to Jimbo’s Drive Inn and shot her with a .38-caliber pistol, Police Chief Dan Johnson said.

After shooting Fawson, Schutz went to the back of the restaurant and twice shot owner Jimmie Maddox, 72, who was trying to escape, police said. Schutz then walked back into the restaurant and shot himself in the head. No one else was in the restaurant at the time.
