Book of Photos Records Firefighters’ Nightmare
From Times Wire Reports
The images tell the story--a lone firefighter from Engine Company 46 hangs his head as he rests on a cot in his Bronx firehouse. His exhausted brethren from Engine Company 298 doze on couches across town in their Queens station.
The photographs are among hundreds in a 240-page book, titled “Brotherhood” and due out next month, documenting New York City’s Fire Department, which was devastated by the loss of 343 firefighters in the Sept. 11 attacks. Nearly 70 photographers recorded the aftermath of emotions and support that followed the devastation.
