* The Defense Department said it probably will decide this week whether to approve bids from General Dynamics Corp. or Northrop Grumman Corp. for rival defense contractor Newport News Shipbuilding Inc. The Pentagon said it plans to forward its decision to the Justice Department after hearing from the companies one more time.

* Hollywood lender Imperial Entertainment Group said it changed its name to Comerica Entertainment Group, reflecting the acquisition in January of parent Imperial Bancorp by Detroit-based Comerica Inc.

* ICN Pharmaceuticals Inc. in Costa Mesa said it has licensed a compound for treating liver disease hepatitis B from Metabasis Therapeutics of San Diego. Terms of the licensing deal were not disclosed. ICN’s leading product is ribavirin, which is used in combination with a Schering-Plough Corp. drug to treat hepatitis C. ICN shares rose 26 cents to close at $27.10 on the NYSE.

* TekInsight.com Inc., an Irvine provider of technology for government, said it agreed to buy the Louisiana operations of Exodus Communications, which has about $3.2 million in state computer contracts. Financial terms were not disclosed. Because Exodus recently filed for bankruptcy protection, the deal must be approved by a bankruptcy judge.

* Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co. cut its quarterly dividend to 12 cents from 30 cents, citing current economic and business conditions.

* Stride Rite Corp. will cut 120 jobs, or about 6% of its work force, to help the company deal with falling sales and slumping earnings.
