A Beloved Brother Lost on Sept. 11

Share

Re “ ‘He Loved Those Towers,’ ” Oct. 1: I am still crying. I didn’t know Tim Byrne or his eight brothers and one sister. I don’t know his mother. But the pain they are enduring and the grief that escaped through J.R. Moehringer’s words brought an unexpected emotional upheaval into my life.

I didn’t lose anyone close to me in the terrorist attack; I didn’t know those people. But then I feel as if I knew each of them, through pictures, through articles, through interviews. My heart aches and my eyes can’t focus from all the tears that have poured out.

To “Aunt Charlene,” please know that we mourn with you. I loved Tim Byrne. I didn’t even know him.

What a marvelous article. I shed tears while reading it. I am a former New Yorker and have family there. However, the difference is that my nephew, also a bond broker, was not in the World Trade Center at that time of the morning, and I celebrate that. Again, my compliments to Moehringer for an insight into one of the many people who lost their lives and how it affects the survivors.
