Officials Plan to Widen Garden Grove Freeway
From Times Staff Reports
Attempting to relieve congestion on the long-neglected Garden Grove Freeway, transportation leaders Thursday accelerated a plan to widen sections of the road and add carpool lanes with ramps connecting to major highways.
At its most ambitious, the plan calls for $872 million in road work and the condemnation of dozens of homes along the right of way. Less aggressive plans could be completed at half the cost and eliminate as few as 10 homes. It is estimated that the project could be completed by 2006.
