Muslim Leader to Discuss Islamic Faith, Koran

Imam Inam-Ul-Haq Kauser, leader of the Southwest region of the Ahmadiyya branch of Islam, will present “The Islamic Faith” from 10 a.m. to noon Tuesday at Temple Ner Tamid, 10629 Lakewood Blvd., Downey.

Kauser will trace the beginnings of Islam and discuss the Koran and what it has in common with Judaism and Christianity; he will also discuss Islamic fundamentalism.

A catered kosher lunch will be served after the program. Cost for lunch is $5 for members of the temple’s Ezra group, $6 for nonmembers. Information: (562) 861-9276.

Shadow Hills Presbyterian Church will hold its eighth annual Autumn Festival at 11 a.m. today and Sunday at 10158 Johanna Ave., Sunland. The festival will include live music, crafts, food and a pumpkin patch. Shadow Hills will also host its fourth annual Bluegrass Contest at noon Sunday. LECTURES

Nobel Prize winner David Baltimore will present “Stretching Science” as part of California Lutheran University’s 16th annual Harold Stoner Clark Lecture at 10 a.m. Monday at 60 W. Olsen Road, Thousand Oaks. Baltimore will discuss the limitations science is facing and what science is expected to explain in the future. The lecture series is being presented by the philosophy department of the university through the Harold Stoner Clark Endowment and co-sponsored by the Amgen foundation, a global biotechnology company. * “America and Israel: Freedom Under Attack” will be the topic presented by talk radio host Dennis Prager at 8 p.m. Tuesday at the Hyatt Westlake Plaza Hotel, 880 S. Westlake Blvd., Westlake Village. MUSIC

* The Pasadena Classical Singers will open their 2001-02 concert with “Czech Mates” at 3:30 p.m. Sunday at Pasadena Presbyterian Church, 585 Colorado Blvd., Pasadena.
