Jet Passengers Quizzed About Box Cutters

From Times Wire Reports

Passengers on an Air Canada plane that never took off on Sept. 11 are being questioned because two box cutter-type knives were later found in an overhead bin, police said.

Police Constable Harry Tam said 60 people were booked on the Air Canada flight from Toronto to New York, which was canceled after the terrorist attacks in the United States shut down air traffic. The attacks involved hijackers armed with box cutters.

Tam said similar knives were found on the Air Canada plane on Sept. 14 during preparations for its first flight after the cancellation. They were still in their original packaging.

He said police believe they fell out of a passenger’s bag or clothing and there was no reason to suspect they were intended for use in a hijacking.
