Game Maker Activision Posts $2.2-Million Profit

Activision Inc. posted a $2.2-million profit on sales of $139.6 million in its second quarter, ended Sept. 30, down from $4.3 million in profit on revenue of $144.4 million in the same quarter last year.

The Santa Monica-based publisher of video games such as “Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 2” still beat Wall Street expectations, which pegged the company’s earnings at 1 cent a share; it earned 6 cents a share.

The company’s shares rose 12 cents to close at $35 on Nasdaq.
