Hose Warning a Lifesaver

Share

You saved my life, or at least my house. After reading “Replacing Washer Hoses Can Prevent Flood Disaster” by Gary Abrams (Oct. 14), I looked at the hoses on our washing machine and couldn’t believe my eyes. One of the hoses actually had a bubble protruding about a quarter of an inch from the surface of the hose. What kept it from blowing I’ll never know. The other hose had a crack that looked as if it had leaked at one time.

We, of course, turn off the water to the house when we go away for extended periods, but we are frequently gone for six to eight hours during the day, and who turns the water off for a short trip?

Needless to say, I replaced the hoses before I wrote this.
