Yugoslav Ex-General Surrenders to Tribunal
A former Yugoslav army general charged in the 1991 shelling of the Croatian city of Dubrovnik turned himself over to the international war crimes tribunal in The Hague.
Retired Gen. Pavle Strugar, 68, faces 16 counts of murder, plunder and wanton destruction of homes. Strugar flew to the Netherlands in a private jet and was expected to appear in the U.N. court this week. He was indicted in February with three other former Yugoslav officers.
Nearly 70% of Dubrovnik was destroyed in an offensive investigators say was aimed at incorporating it into a greater Serbian state.
