Azteca Plans Network Via Local TV Affiliates
Bloomberg News
Television Azteca, Mexico’s No.2 broadcaster, said it will provide programming to U.S. markets via local affiliates, scrapping plans to build up its own Spanish-language television network by buying U.S. stations.
Last year, the company joined up with Pappas Telecasting Cos., which owns stations throughout the U.S., to create Azteca America Inc., with Pappas getting an 80% stake in return for contributing 10 stations.
The company, renamed Azteca America Network, now will be equally owned by both companies.
