The Porsche 50-State Drive for Hope, which is raising money for the Hope Foundation and the New York Firefighters 9-11 Disaster Relief Fund.

Three 911 turbos started in Hawaii last Thursday and were flown to Los Angeles late that night. The team left on the first driving leg early Friday morning for San Francisco.

Corporate contributors have pledged $1 for every mile driven by the team. Other sponsors include Yahoo, which is providing online marketing and serves as the auction site for items, including one of the 2001 911 Turbos, a custom Gibson Les Paul guitar and other memorabilia.

The Hope Foundation supports cancer research at the Southwest Oncology Group.

The finish is slated for Saturday morning in Las Vegas.
