From Times Wire Reports

Colorado Senate President Stan Matsunaka entered the race for governor.

A victory would make Matsunaka, 48, Colorado’s first governor of Japanese descent.

He is the third Democrat to announce plans to seek the party’s nomination for the 2002 election, joining businessman Rollie Heath and state Sen. Bob Hagedorn.

Republican Gov. Bill Owens is expected to announce soon that he will seek a second term.
