* Pimco, a fixed-income fund manager based in Newport Beach, said Douglas M. Hodge, currently an executive vice president, was promoted to the new position of head of Asia/Pacific. Makoto Takano, most recently an executive vice president at Goldman Sachs, will become president of Pimco Japan. Both will be based in the company’s Tokyo office. Takano succeeds Scott Roney, who will remain in his current position until April 2002 and then return to Newport Beach as a senior client relationship manager.
