For the third consecutive year, Florida defensive end Alex Brown was selected as a semifinalist for the Rotary Lombardi Award, which pared its list of possible recipients to 12.
The annual award goes to the top college lineman or linebacker.
Only top-ranked Miami, with offensive tackles Bryant McKinnie and Joaquin Gonzalez, had more than one semifinalist. UCLA’s Robert Thomas also is a semifinalist.
Other semifinalists include Oklahoma linebacker Rocky Calmus, North Carolina defensive end Julius Peppers and Washington nose tackle Larry Tripplett.
