UC Irvine women’s soccer coach Marine Cano is in good condition after being hospitalized Tuesday for heat exhaustion.

Cano, 46, said he felt tired after conducting a soccer clinic last weekend and went to the emergency room at Saddleback Memorial Medical Center. He was transferred to UC Irvine Medical Center and had a temperature of 101.3 degrees when he arrived.

Cano, in his eighth year at Irvine, could be released today. He did not travel with the team to the Air Force tournament, which started Friday in Colorado Springs, Colo. First-year assistant Jamie Surprenant is the Anteaters’ temporary head coach.
