Chalk ‘Card’ for Hope on Display at Nixon Library
More than 100 well-wishers signed a chalk-art “card” to entertainer Bob Hope on display Monday at the Richard Nixon Library & Birthplace in Yorba Linda.
A photo of the get-well card eventually will be sent to Hope, 98, who has been hospitalized in Burbank with pneumonia. The card, which covers the sidewalk entrance into the library, includes scenes from his popular movies, a golf club and a picture of Hope with Presidents Nixon, Ford, Reagan and Bush.
“We’ve gotten an excellent response,” said Sandy Quinn, assistant director of the library.
The card, drawn by Anaheim artist Genevieve Bennett, was one of several attractions for Labor Day visitors. Square dancers also entertained the crowd, and a local troop of Boy Scouts provided lunch.
