Beach Property Suffers Under Active Neglect

Share

Re “Once Vibrant Beach Colony a Ghost Town,” Aug. 30: I have pictures of a rusted, huge metal workstation which is a byproduct of the north outfall project that has been left on this same parcel of land, which further adds to the ghost-town look. When I call Councilwoman Ruth Galanter’s office and the North Outfall Project consulting firm, they don’t have any idea when this will be removed.

There are several uncompleted projects in Playa del Rey, such as the airport’s planted palm trees alongside Waterview Street. I understand the airport had never received approval from the Coastal Commission for these trees and that they have been left to wither, along with a walking path that is covered with weeds.

It appears to me that the longer these eyesores continue to erode the look of our community, the less our property is worth; which means if there is ever any further condemnation, it will be less costly to buy.
