Traffic Traumas

Share

I was glad to see that someone puts L.A. traffic as a priority (“Traffic Congestion Tops Concerns at Candidates’ Forum,” Aug. 28). I’m sick of hearing that people like their cars and won’t use public transport. Give us an alternative!

Bringing back the Red Car and installing a light-rail system down the middle of the existing freeways sounds great. More freeways with empty carpool lanes won’t help. Here’s the plan: Use the San Diego and Santa Monica freeways as north/south and east/west arteries. How about starting with the San Diego Freeway from LAX into the Valley and another line on the Santa Monica Freeway from the Third Street Promenade into downtown, connecting up with the existing “tourist subway”? It’s time to bring L.A. into the 21st century.
