Knott’s Roller Coaster OKd to Open After Death

State investigators gave Knott’s Berry Farm the go-ahead Wednesday to reopen a roller coaster ridden by a 25-year-old woman who collapsed and later died.
Officials from the Orange County coroner’s office determined that the young woman died of a ruptured brain aneurysm early Saturday, a few hours after she was found slumped over the safety bar of Montezooma’s Revenge, a roller coaster that accelerates from 0 to 60 mph in three seconds and makes loops up to seven stories high.
“There was no evidence found at the autopsy to suggest blunt force trauma or any other problems in the mechanics of the ride,” said Susan Gard, spokeswoman for the Division of Occupational Safety and Health, the state agency that investigates amusement park accidents.
The coroner plans further tests to determine what caused the aneurysm to rupture.
