Middle East expert Edward G. Abington will present the lecture “What Palestinians Want / Need” on Sunday at Cal Lutheran University in Thousand Oaks.
Abington worked extensively on the Arab-Israeli conflict during a 30-year career with the State Department. He negotiated various Israeli-Palestinian peace agreements, including the 1993 Oslo accords and the 1997 Hebron Agreement, for which he received the Distinguished Honor Award from then Secretary of State Madeleine Albright.
Abington currently provides counsel to the Palestinian Authority on its relations with the U.S. government.
The lecture will be held at 3 p.m. in Richter Hall in the Ahmanson Science Center. A related photo exhibit, “Qissatuna” or “Our Story,” is being displayed at the campus’ Kwan Fong Gallery through this month.
The black-and-white works highlight the Palestinian story from 1948 to 1998. The exhibit is produced by Sabeel, an ecumenical organization devoted to Palestinian liberation.
