Sheriff Makes Cuts to Help Balance Budget

Sheriff Bob Brooks has cut four deputy positions from a unit that transports inmates to and from court appearances.

County Executive Johnny Johnston called for reductions to help the county balance its $1.1-billion budget. The staff reductions will save about $350,000 and affect only the main courthouse in Ventura.
