An Unwarranted ‘Heavy Burden’
The criminal charges that were sought against [wildlife activist] Bob Farner (“Busting the Good Samaritan,” by Fred Dickey, Aug. 12) were so outrageous as to be unbelievable. Members of the San Diego Humane Society should be ashamed of themselves for harassing such a fine citizen. If anyone should be prosecuted, it should be the police at the scene of the accident. Their inaction placed a heavy burden on a private citizen who should not have had the responsibility of disposing of the deer.

The only one who caused that deer undue suffering was the person who hit it with a car and drove off without calling for help. Kudos to Farner.
