A Hazard in Crossing Road for Fried Chicken
A quick trip out for fried chicken turned into a three-day ordeal when a Houston man fell into an open manhole and got stuck.
Kevin Funchess, a 41-year-old schoolteacher, was rescued Saturday, sore and dehydrated but in good condition, after he finally managed to reach his cell phone, which was stuck beneath him in his backpack, authorities said.
His body was wedged just 3 feet below the surface. His shouts for help went unheard and he was unable to answer the phone, which rang repeatedly as family members tried to find him.
